Bioluminescence Tour Overview:
Bioluminescence is the production and emission of light by a living organism. On dark (moonless) nights in the Ucluelet harbour, bluish white flickers are visible.
They come from blooms of bioluminescent “dinoflagellates”. These tiny creatures emit short flashes of light when disturbed, and at certain times of the year put on quite a light show for kayakers.
All this glowing activity is only visible at night when the sun and moon are both down. We have set up an evening paddle which should offer you a great experience after sunset.
We will meet at our dock at 1943 Peninsula Rd. at the Canadian Princess Lodge & Marina. You will depart from our kayaking base 1 hour after sunset. You will be given all your paddling gear for the trip.
