3-Day Kayaking Odyssey Tour Overview:
The 3-Day Kayaking Odyssey is an inspirational adventure. A truly memorable way to spend quality time with your friends and family while exploring the coastline, seeing wildlife and experiencing the joy of sea kayaking.
On this trip you’ll have the opportunity to explore the wild and beautiful islands and islets of Barkley Sound. Enjoy a picnic lunch on a secluded beach, paddle with harbour seals while eagles soar right above your head.
Private excursions can be arranged for groups of 6 or more guests.
On this spectacular 3-day kayak expedition you will be taken by water taxi to the Broken Group Islands. The boat ride will take approx. 30-60 min. You you will get a chance to take in the rugged and breath taking beauty of the coast and Barkley Sound. We will be dropped of at one of the many sandy beaches within the Broken Group Islands, where we unload all our gear and kayaks.
After unloading and sending off the water taxi we will now proceed to pack all our gear into the kayaks. During our pre-trip safety talk, we will explain and demonstrate how to get in and out, sitting position, how to paddle, what to do in an emergency and answer any questions or concerns you might have. Your Guide will assist you if needed with launching your kayak and off we go.
Our itinerary will be determined by group ability and weather. We aim to paddle 4-6 hours a day. As we are paddling in between the islands there are plenty of opportunities to take pictures, have a snack and relaxing.
At around noon we will stop for our first lunch break prepared by your guide while you kick back and relax and take in the beauty nature has to offer.
In the afternoon your guide will decide where to make camp for the night. There are 7 designated campsites with in the Broken Group Islands to choose from. Once we arrive on our chosen site your guide will point out all facilities and campsites and assist you with setting up your tent. Snacks and hot drinks will be available shortly after.
Dinner will be served between 6 - 7 pm. All designated campsites permit campfires where we share our favourite moments from the day, or you could watch and enjoy the sunset. Before we all say good night and go dream about the ocean, we will have a quick talk about the next day's schedule.
We aim to have breakfast between 7 and 9 am - depending on weather. We may move camp every day or stay at one campsite for the entire trip. The guide will have final say, as we need to take weather and group ability into account.
Paddling and enjoying lunches on different locations within the islands will be a daily routine. There will be plenty of opportunity to discover inter-tidal life , explore old-growth forests, and ancient First Nation Village sites.
On the final kayaking day, after paddlling for the day, we will be picked up by water taxi and whisked back to Ucluelet. We will exchange email addresses and hugs so we can share photos and keep in touch.
