Coastal Waters Tour Overview:
This tour requires some kayaking experience.
Paddlers will enjoy this guided Vancouver Island kayaking journey to the islands outside of the Ucluelet harbour and into Barkley Sound.
At the start of the tour the guide prepares everyone for a day of adventure. Kayaks are set up for each guest, seats and pedals are adjusted. Lessons are given and safety concerns and procedures are explained.
Private excursions can be arranged for groups of 6 or more guests.
Departing from our dock at 1943 Peninsula road at the Canadian Princess Lodge & Marina, we will first explore the sights in the Ucluelet Harbour including a variety of wildlife that frequent this area.
We will then paddle out into Barkley Sound and experience the open Pacific Ocean. Your guide will point out some spectacular views of the rocky shores, gigantic kelp beds, and perhaps an ancient first nations whaling beach or some incredible nearby rock formations. Sea lion colonies, black bears, seals, and whales may all be spotted by kayak on this day trip.
After a couple of hours paddling in the morning, your guide will take you to one of the nearby sandy beaches to enjoy a delicious picnic lunch and a short rest. Your tour will continue for another couple of hours before returning to our dock for an estimated arrival time of 3:00pm.
